Our story
A home that belongs to the hills
Lap of Himalayas is a small, family-run resort on a green slope just beyond Kausani.
How it began
Built by people of these hills
The idea was simple: the best way to see Kumaon is from a home that belongs to it.
Our founder, Vinay Tewari, chose this slope for the one thing no one can build — an unbroken view of the high Himalaya, from Trishul and Nanda Devi to Panchachuli. Around it grew the resort: rooms that face the peaks, a dining room wrapped in glass, a tea garden and an orchard, lawns for bonfires and yoga.
In 2025 that work was recognised on stage at Connect Kausani, a gathering of the people shaping travel in the region.

What we care about
Three things, done well
The view, first
Every room is turned to face the range. On a clear morning you will see the snow line from your bed.
Pahadi hospitality
Our team is from the hills. Ask them anything — the best sunrise spot, which temple to visit, where the hisalu grows.
Slow and simple
Home-cooked food, a tea garden, an orchard and evenings by the fire. No rush, no fuss.

“It is like a home more than a hotel.”

“Like a home more than a hotel”
The breathtaking Himalayan view from the hotel made our trip unforgettable. Excellent hospitality and very comfortable rooms.
Most importantly the view from the room and balcony… it was rewarding. If it’s a clear weather you can spend the whole day sitting in the balcony.
It is like a home more than a hotel. You feel it’s your own house.
Location is amazing. View from every room. Behaviour of the owner and other attendants is very good. Cooking is delicious.
Excellent location and the property owner is very responsive & cooperative. Rooms are very big & comfortable.
Spectacular view of the full Himalayan range… staff was polite and never say no.
